Old-Fashioned Blackberry Cobbler

1. Preheat oven

  • Set to 175°C (350°F)

2. Prepare berries

  • In a bowl, mix blackberries with sugar, lemon juice, zest, and cornstarch
  • Let sit for 10–15 minutes to release juices

3. Make batter

  • Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  • Stir in milk until smooth

4. Assemble (classic method)

  • Pour melted butter into a baking dish
  • Pour batter over butter (do not stir)
  • Spoon blackberry mixture evenly on top (do not stir)

👉 As it bakes, the batter rises around the fruit—this is the signature cobbler texture.

5. Bake

  • Bake 45–55 minutes until golden brown and bubbly

6. Cool slightly

  • Let rest 10–15 minutes before serving

🍨 Serving Ideas

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
  • Or a dollop of whipped cream
