Is it safe to leave butter on the kitchen counter?

Unsalted butter: It is best to only store as much as you will use within one or two days, as it offers no additional protection against spoilage.

Whipped or flavored butter: This should be kept refrigerated unless it is freshly prepared and used immediately, as added ingredients can spoil more quickly.

If your kitchen regularly gets warm (above the usual room temperature), a refrigerator is the safer choice.

You can find the complete cooking steps on the next page or by clicking the open button (>). Don’t forget to share this post with your Facebook friends.

The best ways to store butter on the kitchen counter:
1. Use a butter dish with a lid.
A simple butter dish with a lid keeps dust, odors, and particles out of the air and slows down oxidation—the main reason why butter tastes “funny.”
